Fall has arrived

My good friend Kate came to visit last weekend. We took the boys to the "OZtober fest" in Wamego. Jackson loves to go to any "festival". From a 2 year old's perspective a festival is any event that has a bounce house- this one did although it was the first time EVER that we have had to pay to use a bounce house......for those keeping track, it cost 5 bucks for him to bounce.

We also ate funnel cake- $5- So, a grand total of $18 made OZtoberfest fun, but kind of a rip-off. If I had known that there was a children's Wizard of Oz costume contest, I certainly would have dressed them as flying monkeys. I will be more prepared next year, I promise.

If you've been living under a rock, you may have missed that the Big XII is about to be made up of ten teams (and the Big X will be 12 teams- and they are retaining their respective names because..........I dunno, you tell me) and Nebraska is fleeing the Big XII.

What that means is that this year's game vs. Nebraska was the last. We celebrated by attending what our friends who moved here the same year we did, from Nebraska call a "Bipartisan Husker-Wildcat" Party.

It was on a Thursday, party started at 1:30pm and since we work, we didn't make it until 4:30. We were told by the hosts (who are parents themselves) that it would be kid friendly. When we arrived we realized quickly that their guests were a bunch of PROFESSIONAL beer pong players.

Justin was obviously mad that he had not hired a babysitter and come without the kids. Justin is pretty much a hall of fame beer pong player- he has a multitude of experience playing vs. the host from days at Wake. He knew he could have kicked the sh*t out of all of those Husker fans.....then maybe we could at least beat them at something- even if it has to be getting drunk.

Needless to say, we had children in tow and thoroughly enjoyed the kids enjoying the swing set in the backyard while we laughed at the stumbling and passed out Husker fans strewn about.

Both children were obviously clad in their wildcat regalia.
