We don't frequently get to see our bestest friends ever and we NEVER have 4 kids in the house at once. Justin had made all sorts of preparations including purchasing a double slip-n-slide so the kids could race. We assumed that since its been 95+ degrees for the last 4 days we really didn't plan on raining. After seriously investigating the doppler radar, Joe & Justin made an executive decision that they were going to set up the slip-n-slide even though it was going to rain until 10pm.

Rainy Tuesday with our Buddies
Our great friends came to Manhattan to visit. Casey & Joe are good friends of ours, I've known Casey since the first grade and we grew up together in Vermont. Justin and Joe have been tight since Justin was in grad school here 10 years ago and Joe was an undergrad at Fort Hays. They brought their two daughters, Nya & Celia. My great friend Helen who was my college roommate and debate partner brought her son Nakobe with her. We are certainly sad though that Helen's husband Justin is home in the Twin Cities working and was unable to come visit us this week.

Nakobe thought this was an AWESOME idea, as did the other girls:
After slip-n-slide they came in and took a bath together:
After taking a bath, Celia and Jackson dug on each other:
Because it was raining, I decided to bake a cake and let the kids decorate it, which turned out to be an EXCELLENT activity. I had all sorts of leftover colored frostings and sprinkles from different holidays and the kids thought this was the most fun thing ever:
